History

Concept Laboratories was formed in 1991 by Professor John Gordon, who, with twenty-nine years experience in data security has published over fifty papers on coding and cryptography, and is a former director of the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR).

In the early 1990s while advising on risk analysis for a major bank he devised the methodology - a logical dual of fault-tree analysis - now known as Dependency Modelling, which has seen incarnations as DMT (Dependency Modelling Tool), and later as RAT (Risk Analysis tool from Arium Technology).

Used by some of the world's largest organisations, this methodology has recently been radically modified and upgraded by the incorporation of Bayesian network analysis alongside the original fault-tree method, and is available as VuRisk from Concept Labs.
